Beyond deepening your understanding of classic costume design<\/strong>, this course offers a unique focus on Cosplay<\/strong>, an art form that originated in Japan in the mid-1980s<\/strong> and has since grown into a global phenomenon.
Once considered an eccentric niche<\/strong> for anime enthusiasts, Cosplay has evolved into an international business<\/strong>, bringing together global communities<\/strong> at major events such as Tokyo\u2019s Comiket, San Diego Comic-Con, and Lucca Comics & Games<\/strong>.
This course equips you with the skills to enter this rapidly expanding sector professionally, preparing you to design and craft<\/strong> high-quality, cinematic-level<\/strong> costumes for individuals of all ages and backgrounds. This module is designed to enhance your skills in assembling the various components of a costume. You will learn to master marking, cutting, sewing<\/strong>, and working with fabrics<\/strong>, while becoming proficient with advanced tools and equipment used in production. The aim of the course is to provide you with the practical skills required to work as a garment technician<\/strong> in both craft workshops<\/strong> and industrial settings<\/strong>, while also offering you the specific knowledge needed to better understand the structure of different creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The module consists of both theoretical<\/strong> and hands-on practical<\/strong> sessions in the workshop. During these, you will learn how to manage the garment assembly process, including different production methods (tailoring, preparatory and intermediate pressing, stitching types, and sewing techniques<\/strong>), as well as how to handle microdesign<\/strong>, particularly for challenging fabrics<\/strong>. You will also gain experience in fitting<\/strong>, including corrections and adjustments<\/strong>, fitting trials<\/strong>, evaluating seam quality<\/strong>, and conducting quality checks<\/strong> on specific parts of the garment.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

Prop Making<\/strong> & Prosthetic<\/strong><\/div><\/summary>

A theater<\/strong> or film costume<\/strong>, and even more so a cosplayer\u2019s costume<\/strong>, is not just an outfit to wear, but an artistic expression<\/strong> that, through modern technologies, has transformed complex accessories\u2014such as helmets<\/strong>, armor<\/strong>, weapons<\/strong>, wings<\/strong>, elaborate footwear<\/strong>, and even cosmetic prosthetics<\/strong>\u2014into three-dimensional wearable creations<\/strong>.
The Prop Making module<\/strong>, which balances both theory<\/strong> and practical<\/strong> experience, is designed to teach you how to create accessories for costumes, blending classic molding techniques<\/strong> with 3D printing<\/strong> and extending to the study of stage props<\/strong>.
Among the various disciplines covered, this course will allow you to refine your 3D printing<\/strong> skills in all its forms, learn how to use specialized software for preparing 3D printer files<\/strong>, and understand the techniques for creating molds for prosthetics<\/strong> and props<\/strong>.
A key part of this profession is an in-depth understanding of materials<\/strong>, as the craft involves extensive use of resins<\/strong>, silicones<\/strong>, polyurethanes<\/strong>, and various types of moldable foams<\/strong>. You will enhance your hand skills<\/strong> through the application of classical sculpting techniques<\/strong> while incorporating digital processes<\/strong>, allowing for a continuous alternation between physical workshops<\/strong> and digital production<\/strong>.

With the large-scale production of fashion embroidery<\/strong> moving overseas (mainly to Asia), very few skilled artisans remain in Italy<\/strong> and France<\/strong> who are capable of applying traditional embroidery techniques to haute couture<\/strong> and costume design<\/strong>. These artisans are highly sought after by major brands not only for their ability to draw from ancient techniques<\/strong> but also for their incorporation of digital innovations<\/strong> into new experiments.

This course focuses on the identity immersion<\/strong> that six generations have attributed to the heroes and fantastical worlds generated by animation<\/strong>, comics<\/strong>, video games<\/strong>, television<\/strong>, and literature<\/strong>.
