MANGA HEROES: in Milan and Naples the largest retrospective dedicated to Japanese manga and animation

First in Milan, at Fabbrica del Vapore (from October 9th 2021 to January 2nd 2022) and subsequently in Naples at the National Archaeological Museum (April 21st/September 19th 2022), “Manga Heroes” took place, the largest retrospective ever dedicated to manga and anime, produced by Comicon and J-Pop and curated by Jacopo Costa Buranelli with the scientific contribution of Fabrizio Modina.

“Manga Heroes” proposed an experience inclusive of all aspects relating to the concept of “transformation”, through an exhibition itinerary, not linked by a chronological path, but conceived as an aesthetic immersion for environments and protagonists, heroes in fact, who build together with the visitor his own visual, tactile and sound experience.

Through the works of the great authors involved, following the themes of the various characters, visitors were able to encounter contemporary themes not only related to the manga world, but also to current topics, such as the question of gender, historical memory and cultural inclusiveness, the worlds of science and science fiction, storytelling from the universal to the particular, style, fashion, urban design.
