The M-Cube Foundation starts today – 23 October 2024 – in Paris, the ‘Eternal Cities’ project, funded by NGI Enrichers Transatlantic and implemented in collaboration with artist Chiara Masiero Sgrinzatto and the New York Institute of Technology. School of architecture and Design.
In our world and in history, some cities have acquired a powerful mythological fascination that has turned them into ‘eternal cities’. They have become icons of the past, the pride of the present and simulacra of themselves in the future.
In these cities there are ‘facts and events’ that cannot be seen with the naked eye, but which have the potential to reveal places and paths in a different way from how the physical senses perceive them.
The eternal cities can be better understood by wearing a new pair of glasses, capable of revealing the ‘magic’ of things, facts and stories linked to those places, intangible elements, capable of transcending the limits of time.
The research project will use immersive panoramas hand-drawn by Chiara and generative AI algorithms as key elements to investigate and represent the enigmatic interaction between Myth and reality in the context of the eternal cities. This will also allow the M-Cube Foundation to explore and evaluate the impact of modern Mythology on places, contents and narratives, generating a circular, powerful and complex relationship between these elements.
New York will be the first target city.
