“Before we even speak, we dress. Fashion is our first form of communication.”
From this awareness comes Red Velvet talks, the new format by Fondazione M-Cube, curated by Elena Maria Casella and with the shooting and editing by Simona Carmen Rapisarda.
It is dedicated to one of the most vibrant, controversial, and fascinating territories of our present: fashion. Each episode is an opportunity to explore what fashion often doesn’t say out loud but subtly suggests: identity, transformation, memory, visual languages, new professions, and much more.
Guiding us on this journey is Fabrizio Modina — collector, designer, author, and curator who has long explored Modern Mythology and the connections between pop culture and the collective imagination. A curious and radical observer, he skillfully draws connections between a garment and a comic book character, between haute couture and cosplay, between heritage and digital innovation.
Red Velvet Talks aims to present fashion not as a product, but as a grammar of desire — a language that crosses bodies, eras, and media. A device capable of holding together aesthetics, technology, and memory.
#1. Is Fashion a minor art?
In the first episode, airing on June 21, we confront a major prejudice:
Why, despite its social and symbolic impact, is fashion still often seen as frivolous?
Fabrizio Modina guides us through a reflection that begins with this question and touches on urgent themes such as the communicative power of clothing and the deep connection between fashion and art — also exploring the new professions that are reshaping the fashion system.
A video series, a cultural archive
Each episode of Red Velvet Talks is designed as a small archive of meaning — not just entertainment, but also cultural education and visual inspiration.
We talk about manga, couture, childhood, cinema, gender, and much more with the interdisciplinary spirit that also drives the work of the Foundation. Because today, more than ever, we believe fashion is not just a system — it is a cultural territory to explore.
